Black AI Futures is the UK's first Black-led AI for Good network. Aspire Education Group is one of the founding organisations that incubated it.
Why an education organisation
Because the questions overlap. Aspire's work is about who gets access to the skills an economy rewards, and AI is rapidly redefining what those skills are. An organisation that spends its time connecting education systems to labour markets has a direct stake in how AI reshapes both.
The people in common
Viv Ahmun, Aspire's President, is a co-founder of BAIF. Newton Karera, Aspire's Strategic Africa Lead, also serves as BAIF's Strategic Africa Lead. Hameed Adigun, Aspire's Director of Technology and Innovation, works across both. The overlap is not incidental, it is how the network got built.
Incubating a network is a different act from joining one. It means carrying the risk before there is anything to point at.
What it means for our work
Two things. It gives Aspire a route into UK AI policy conversations that an education organisation would not otherwise have. And it keeps a discipline on our own technology work: ASSIST-AI's constrained, emotionally neutral design reflects a view about responsible AI that BAIF exists to argue for.
